Rowan's 3rd Birthday!

Rowan has really been into the Happy Birthday thing this year. Since mine, Jeff's, and Hannah's all come right before his, he knew what it was all about! He learned the Happy Birthday song and has been singing it around the house since the begining of October. Now he sings it too any one who will listen to him! His Grandma Kathy sent a package a few days before his birthday, and being the mean mom I am, I made him wait til his birthday to open it up! Torture for him let me tell you! He practically camped out on the box til Saturday morning. That morning, despite the late hour Dad let them stay up til, he was up bright and early! Yes EARLY, singing happy birthday to himself and trying to wake mommy and daddy up. So we all got up and let him open up his presents, you would have thought it was Christmas he was so excited! I still can't believe my baby is 3 though!

He picked out an ice cream cake for his birthday. Yummy!

He has really been into trains this year. Especially Thomas the Train, but he'll still play with other trains. He gets very animated when we pass by the train sets at the stores. When ever we go shopping we have to strategically plan our route so as not to go by the trains or we'll be stuck there for awhile!

Hannah got a Pound puppy for her birthday and Rowan didn't want to let her have it so he got one too. Thanks Grandpa and Grandma Olson! He takes it everywhere with him!

Thomas the train! Or according to Rowan, "My Train"! He had a fun morning and by the time lunch rolled around he was ready for a nap. I had to go to a first aide certification class that day, so dad had them in the afternoon. He said Rowan couldn't even finish his lunch, he fell asleep in it instead!

WORMS!!!!

Rowan and I went to the YMCA for a bit yesterday because I had to work. So he got to go play in the childcare for awhile. He played with toys and colored, in general had a good time! When I picked him up, he had colored a picture of a Candy Cane, as I was about to comment on his beautiful Candy Cane, he shouted out very excitedly "My Worm"!! I couldn't help but laugh, because really I could see how he decided it was a worm and not a candy cane. He's such a boy!

Hannah's 5th Birthday!

I know this is almost a month late, but better late then never right! We went to a pottery place here in Asheville for Hannah's birthday. We picked out some ornaments to paint and really had a great time. Here are a few of our friends here! Starting from Jeff's left: Laura and Dean Hutcheon and Tara and her son Dayne. We've had a good time with them! I think we'll be painting a lot more pottery while we're here in Asheville. The owner's of Fired Up Creative Studio were really nice and extremely accomdating to us and our rowdy bunch!

Philisophical Moments From a Child

A friend got this idea from one of her friends and I decided it was too cute to pass up. So, I'm going to "try" and remember to start writing down all the funny things my kids say because heaven knows it happens often enough. Then I'm going to include them in our family blog so we can share these funny moments with those we love......

********
So today we were at a restaurant for lunch and while we were eating Hannah had a light bulb moment. She turned to me and said...

"Mom, do you know what it means when someone's eyebrow is up and the other one is down?"
I responded, "No honey, what does it mean?"
She was quick to reply, "Well the eyebrow that is up means they're allergic to plants and the eyebrow that is down, means they're mad."
*********

Well who'da thunk! I know you all are so relieved to finally know what that curious expression "actually" means!

GOAAALLLL! Soccer is over for now!

Well the soccer season has come to an end! Thank goodness cause those early morning games of Hannah's were getting cold!!! Poor girl has had to play in 31 degree weather for the past few weeks. It really has been fun watching them progress in their skills.

Ian and Faith were the more aggressive players on thier team.
Hannah was so nervous through out her game. When we finally asked what was wrong, she explained that she was afraid she wasn't going to get a trophy if she didn't make a goal! Awww, Hannah I don't think anyone could not give you one! She was a really good little player and made plenty of goals throughout the season!

Amazing Fall Colors!

The fall colors here are simply breathtaking! I love walking outside everyday just see the beautiful colors! This picture is just right outside infront of our apartment. The little tree down on the right is probably my favorite tree here! The color is amazing! I'm totally in awe of the North Carolina Fall!
Here is an upclose of the that little tree in the previous picture! The underneath of most of the leaves were more yellow then red but ontop of the leaf it was very red!
I saw this tree which is right outside our apartment as well and couldn't believe these two red leaves were growing off the same branch as the yellow leaves. I couldn't see any other red leaves on the rest of the tree!

Again, my favorite little tree!

Haloween Fun 2008

So here we are, Haloween again! This year was alot of fun! Ian and Hannah could barely wait for it to get here. Here is one house we stopped at. There is a man in a gorilla costume there in the back. Rowan was especially fascinated by him. There were a few other houses that had a man dressed up as a vampire and another from the movie V is for Vendetta. They'd stand really still then scare the kids as they came up to it. Rowan would have been happy just for that! He wouldn't leave these guys alone. He almost forgot about the candy altogether. Oh and the open doors to the homes were a huge temptation for Rowan. I had to drag him out of more then a few while apologizing to laughing home owners. The open door policy ALWAYS applies to Rowan, or so he believes! We actually stayed out trick or treating for over two hours. We were so tired by the end of it! We went to a neighborhood right by us that the police blocked off just for us trick or treaters! It was nice to not have to worry about traffic as well as keeping kids together!

So we didn't know what to do for Rowan. We found a monkey outfit but couldn't convince him that it was awesome, but when we saw this boxing outfit he was okay with it! He especially loved the boxing gloves that came with it. He has since discarded the out fit, but still comes at us with the gloves ever chance he can.

Yup, even I got into the holiday spirit a bit. I had some fake eyelashes from last haloween so I whipped em out and put them on! Cool huh! They were really hard to get used to. My shirt even says "I love candy" appropriate don't you think! I put some makeup on Hannah which she loved in and of itself, but when I got to the mascara I couldn't help but be amazed. This girl has some really really long eyelashes. By the end she had a black streak across her eyebrows because thats where they kept touching! Man I'm jealous!

Ian has been planning on being a clone trooper since, well last year. But had to settle for Darth Vader because mom couldn't find the right costume! Sheesh mom! So he was pretty stoked to find it this year and there was absolutely no way his mind was going to be changed! Hannah chose a Rapunzal costume, cause well you know, She's a princess! I'm pretty sure we have 3 or 4 Princess costumes floating around the house now! And don't get me wrong she uses them! I thought the Rocky costume for Rowan pretty well fit his personality. He loves to play it up!
