Ft. Bragg, California- Fourth of July Weekend

So going backwards with the pictures.... Sunday: Driving home we were able to drive through some of the smaller Redwoods. We stopped at a small rest stop and found some cool things!
Looking up into the Redwoods! They were sooo tall!
This Redwood looked like it was burned. So here we are standing in the middle of the burned out Redwood! Still very cool! And big!!
Glass Beach!
This beach used to be a dumping ground back in the 60's, 70's for a Glass Bottling Company. They'd just back up and dump all their trash. Over the years the glass was broken up and smoothed over by the water. Now the beach is covered with tiny glass pebbles of various colors. We had so much fun exploring and collecting tiny glass pebbles.

A view of a small secluded portion of Glass Beach. We sat for awhile and played in the water, looked at rocks, explored the tidepools, found teenie tiny starfish and sea anenomies, and crabs!
Rowan especially had fun sticking his finger into the sea anenomie and watching it squish in! Not the tiny one of course. We found some really big ones!

I have a secret.... I love rocks! I was in heaven, I could have spent all day exploring this beach and been just fine! I think maybe in another life I was actually a geologist!

The cool tide pools on top of the rocks. We found so many crabs!
A Close Up of Glass Beach! Absolutely Beautiful!

Watching the Fireworks on the Beach! A very neat experience!

Trying to stay warm! We loved leaving the 100 degree weather down in Sacramento to come up to the 70ish degree weather in Ft. Bragg, but it did get cold at night!

We walked along the cliffs and found a few different beach spots to play in! The water was so pretty, but very very cold! I was so proud of the kids for getting in it! Jeff even showed his manliness and dove head first into a wave!
A big tide pool! It was fun watching the waves crash into it!

Walking along the cliffs..

We all loved these flowers, cause they looked like rattle snake rattles. They even sounded like them!
Getting stranded on the rock by the wave!

Hannah braving the cold water!

Rowan was surprisingly the bravest of all the kids! He went out the farthest into the water and loved it! Til he got water in his mouth!

See I was there too! I spent most of the time behind the camera.
